Lessons " We're at the zoo"

Objectives:
Practical:
·       to revise the vocabulary on the topic “Animals”;
·       to revise pupils’ knowledge about Present Simple.
·       to develop pupils’  reading, speaking, listening skill;
·       to practice pupils’ communicative skills in pair work ;
·       to teach pupils dialogue and monologue speech, pair work;
·       to increase pupils' knowledge about  animals and their homes.
Educational:
·       to extend pupils’ knowledge about animals;
·       to develop pupils’ logical and critical thinking;
·       to extend pupils’ knowledge of English as a foreign language;
Developing:
·       to increase pupils' motivation;
·       to develop pupils’ communicative skills;
·       to stimulate pupils’ thinking.
Educative:
·       to encourage children to know, respect and love their native land;
·        to cultivate pupils’ love for native land.

Materials: pictures of  animals, cards with the words and letters,  felt-pens, a Magic Box
     















1. Greeting
    T. -  Good morning, dear children!
P.              Good morning, good morning,
       Good morning to you!
       Good morning, good morning,
        I’m glad to see you!
T.      –Today we’ll have unusual lesson. We’ll play, travel and visit one interesting place. We’ll see many different animals and tell about them.
-         Do you like to play?
P.    -Yes, we do.
T.    -Do you like to travel?
 P.-Yes, we do.
T.-Do you like to work together?
P.-Yes, we  do.
             Together, together,
             Together every day.
             Together, together
             We like to work and play.
2. Warming up
   Game “ Whose pen is it?”
T. Give me your pens and answer the questions.
    -Whose pen is it?
P1. – Mine.
  T. Do you like animals?
P1. –Yes, I do. I like animals very much.
  T. - Whose pen is it? Do you have a pet?
P2. – Yes, I have a puppy.
T.      – What animals live in Africa?
-         What animals live in the forest?
-         What animals live on a farm?






















-         What animals can swim?
-         What animals can run fast?

              
3.Vocabulary revising
     T. -  As you can see we are ready to travel. Try to guess what interesting place  we will visit today. Look at the pictures! Do you know these animals? Write the first letters of their names and read what place we’ll visit.     
   P1. It is a monkey. It starts from letter M.
P2. It is an ant. Letter A.
P3. It is a giraffe. Letter G. Etc.
                                                                   

4. Singing the song
- We are going to the Magic Zoo. Let’s sing and do some exercises!
               Song “ Magic Zoo”
I go,  go,  go
I go to the zoo.
To see an orange tiger
And brown kangaroo.
Tap, tap, tap
I see a white cat,
I see a brown lion,
A green crocodile,
A monkey, parrot, bear
And I see a grey hare.


5. Speaking practice
- We’re at the zoo now! What animals are here? ( children name the animals)

     Game “ Magic box”
-         Look!  Some cages are empty.
At night some animals ran away. Now these animals are in the “ Magic Box”. Touch the animals ,guess what  they are and put  them in their cages.
    P1. Is it a hare?
    T. Why do you think so?
    P1. It has got long ears.
    P2. Is it an elephant?
    T. Why do you think so?
    P2. It has got long trunk. Etc
                                                    
  
6. Speaking-listening practice.
    Describing animals.
T. - Can you see your favourite animal in our zoo? Describe it but don’t mention its name. Other children try to guess what it is.

P1. - It is yellow. It is strong and beautiful. It lives in Africa. It can run. It eats small animals. It has got a long tail and four legs. It has got long hair on his head.

P2 – Is it a giraffe?
P1. -  No, it isn’t.
P2. -  Is it a lion?
P1. – Yes, it is. Lion is my favourite animal.


7. Summing up
 Home assignment.
  - For the next lesson you will have to learn a poem about your favourite animal.
   Today we have traveled a lot and you were super active. Our lesson is over.
